CBS 12 News reports a St. Lucie, Florida woman faces assault and battery charges for attacking her husband for repeatedly passing gas in bed. The woman allegedly kicked, elbowed, and pepper sprayed her husband because the farting wouldn’t cease.
PORT ST. LUCIE (CBS12) — A woman is facing a charge of battery for fighting with her husband who couldn’t stop passing gas.
Donald Fitzroy Meikle told police that his wife, Dawn, elbowed him on the arm when he passed gas in bed. This happened early in the morning on Dec. 11. Meikle said she eventually kicked him out of bed because his flatulence wouldn’t stop.
The victim said his wife let him back into bed. He passed gas again, according to the report, and she started to kick and elbow him again. Meikle said he held his wife for his own safety. During the struggle, she suffered a broken lip and he suffered a lot of scratches across his chest.
Donald’s wife called 911.
Police said she also sprayed pepper spray to keep her husband out of the bathroom.
Police arrested Dawn Meikle for domestic battery and took her to the St. Lucie County jail.
This may seem bizarre but it isn’t the first time a woman has been jailed for beating a man for farting. Last year, Huffington Post released an article on a South Carolina woman who allegedly beat a man for farting in her face.
Jessica Cerney, 33, told police that 64-year-old Darrell Mcknight came home drunk at about 7:45 p.m. and farted on her visage while she was lying on the couch, according to documents obtained by The Smoking Gun. Furious about the blast, Cerney left the house, but says McKnight followed her outside.
An argument ensued that allegedly resulted in McKnight approaching her in a “threatening manner,” and Cerney allegedly punching McKnight in the face three times.
It seems that women have a very low tolerance for gas passing. If I had to guess, I would assume that it was more than passing gas that would make anyone mercilessly beat their husband or partner. In many relationships, people let differences build up and the smallest things, like farts, could set someone off. So learn from these two ludicrous incidents and talk out your problems. Don’t let a poot land you in jail due to unresolved differences.
